Conservatives better watch their backs because Speaker of the House Paul Ryan is about to plunge a dagger in them. Ryan has been working against the conservative cause for years now, but since taking over as Speaker, he’s been out of control.
In the wake of the Vegas shooting, the Left has been on a gun-grabbing crusade. They’re currently trying to pass a bill banning bump stocks, a device Stephen Paddock used in his rampage. Second Amendment lovers are obviously concerned about this latest push, and they just got the worst news yet, as Ryan has called on Trump to strictly regulate them.
As reported at the Daily Mail, Ryan has broken away from the conservative base and is saying bump stocks should be addressed through a “regulatory fix.” Crackpot liberal Senator Diane Feinstein already introduced a bill that would ban them altogether, and Ryan, who’s choosing his words carefully, is echoing a similar sentiment saying regulation would be the “the smartest, quickest fix.”
He also questioned why the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives approved the use of bump stocks during the Obama administration. It’s obvious he isn’t opposed to a ban ideologically, but he’s not using the word to avoid inevitable backlash from conservatives.
“We are still trying to assess why the [ATF] let this go through in the first place,” Ryan said during his weekly press conference on Capitol Hill.
“What happened on the regulatory side – it makes sense that this is a regulation that probably shouldn’t have happened in the first place.“
On Tuesday, Republican Rep. Carlos Curbelo of Florida and Democratic Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts introduced a bill in the House banning the sale of bump stocks. Weak-kneed Republicans can’t seem to choose between being praised by the media for a day or enraging their entire base, as a strong opposition hasn’t really emerged yet.
Unfortunately, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters that “members of both parties and multiple organizations are planning to take a look at bump stocks. We welcome that and would like to be part of that conversation.”
Even worse, the National Rifle Association said Thursday that it supports “additional regulations” of bump stocks. It appears that bump stocks are about to at least come under stricter regulation, if not banned outright. One by one, supposed conservative allies are dropping like flies, falling for the deceitful and fear-mongering narratives that the Left spews from its many pulpits.
Congratulations, Paul Ryan, you’ve been played by the Left’s propaganda machine. Or rather, you once again revealed your true, turncoat colors.
