Jeff Sessions Has A Plan After Kate Steinle’s Murderer Is Acquitted

Thursday’s baffling acquittal riled up the Justice Department. Attorney General Jeff Sessions immediately released a statement. Justice may have been skirted at illegal immigrant and murderer Jose Ines Garcia Zarate’s first trial, but he might not be so lucky at his second.

Led by Sessions, the Justice Department is pursuing federal charges against Zarate.

“We’re looking at pursuing federal charges in this case, and I think it’s important to reassure everyone who is concerned about this that we will prosecute this to the fullest extent available under the law,” said Sarah Isgur Flores, the Director of Public Affairs for the department.

Steinle, 32, was innocently strolling through San Francisco with her father when she was gunned down by Zarate. The illegal allegedly found a gun on the ground and began toying with it, causing it to fire. Steinle was hit in the back.

The most sickening part of the case is the fact that Zarate had previously been deported five times. The criminal would have been kicked out a sixth time if he hadn’t been protected by San Francisco’s sanctuary city policy.

“When jurisdictions choose to return criminal aliens to the streets rather than turning them over to federal immigration authorities, they put the public’s safety at risk. San Francisco’s decision to protect criminal aliens led to the preventable and heartbreaking death of Kate Steinle,” said Sessions.

“While the State of California sought a murder charge for the man who caused Ms. Steinle’s death – a man who would not have been on the streets of San Francisco if the city simply honored an ICE detainer – the people ultimately convicted him of felon in possession of a firearm.”

Steinle should still be alive. The left’s decision to champion illegal immigration comes at a heavy cost.

“But we’re looking at every option. And we will, again, prosecute this to the fullest extent available under the law because these cases are tragic and they are entirely preventable,” Flores said.

The public is restless. A wild, undocumented migrant murdered an innocent young woman and he somehow managed to dodge conviction. It’s unsettling; people want justice for Kate Steinle.

“I mean really you have to look at these sanctuary city policies as a whole. This is a person who should not have been in San Francisco to begin with,” said Flores.

“Kate Steinle should still be alive today.”
